COCOPAH CASINO

Yes, The COCOPAH CASINO parking lot is going to be ‘home’ for the next few days until I head to Phoenix.

But priorities first – an update on my little boy.  He’s pitiful and my heart is breaking.  But I am a woooose (when it comes to Bennie) after all.

He’s fine really – he’s eating and pooping so that’s the main thing.  But he’s not drinking any water yet. He’s a little more alert today.  I’m putting hot water in his dry food to soften it up to mush and giving him little bits at a time.

Getting the pain meds and anti-biotics into him is challenging but I’m managing it.

Needless to say he’s being pampered way beyond his normal pampering !  LOL  I stayed two nights in the Vet parking lot.  The first night before his appointment because it was so early in the morning.  And last night because I wasn’t able to get him until after 4:00PM and wanted to stay close just in case he wasn’t well.

01

Believe it or not, this is my first time doing an over-night in a Casino parking lot.  I guess one hasn’t been conveniently along my travels before.

I was going to stay a few days at the Quechan Casino but once I got onto Google I saw that this one was only 5 miles from the Vet’s.

02

They have a very large parking lot for RV’ers and all spaces are huge and numbered.  Yes, That’s me off to the far right.

03

The place is spotless clean and very nicely landscaped.

04

A short video to give you an idea of the RV area …

Security came by as soon as I pulled in to tell me there is a charge of $5.00 for three nights.  Just go into the gift shop to pay.  Sure can’t complain about that huh !

Naturally, While in the gift shop I found a little trinket.  Ya, Like I need another mug !!  Me Nerves !!

05

It was also my first time ever being in a Casino !!  WOW !!  I mean I’ve seen them on TV but never in person.  One big shocker I noticed immediately is that smoking is allowed inside !!  It’s been a lot of years since I’ve known of a place where smoking is allowed inside anywhere.  But they must have an excellent ventilation system because you’d never know it.  I didn’t notice any smell and only became aware because I saw someone smoking.

STILL LOTS GOING ON

Mornings have gotten very cold now and nights as well.  Poor little guy just shivers when he first gets up but he’s a very smart little boy.  He heads straight to the chair where the sun is shining in.

01

BAHHHH HUMBUG !!

I stopped celebrating (if that’s what you call it) Christmas many years ago.  But Mudder and Jamie came by the VFW with gifts for Bennie.  Mudder really spoiled him this year – I think she got him four gifts…

02

03

04

One down – on to the next one. Bennie does enjoy ripping into the wrapping…

05

06

07

Toys opened now on to the treats !

08

Mudder even got me a present – but Bennie thinks this one is for him also…

11

A new mug for my cuppa tea !

13

It sure feels like I’ve got a lot on my plate right now – and with no end in sight !!  Isn’t bad luck supposed to come in three’s ???  Well I’ve got to be on about TEN right now.

All it really means is that ‘life’ does what ‘life’ does – regardless of whether you’re freezin’ your butt of up North or living in an RV down South.

So when everything seems so overwhelming and there are so many things that need fixing, what do you think I did ??

You’re gonna do what !!??

You’re gonna tackle ELECTRICAL STUFF (which I know ZIP about) when you’re in this frame of mind !!

I got a few more LED lights that required WIRING !!  Nope, Not the pop out – pop in kind.  So the red wire with the cap thingie gets pulled out……right ?

04

And the red wire with the cap thingie from the new bulb goes in its place…..right ??

03

But were does the other red wire go.    Hmmmm, I seem to remember from last year when I replaced a few of these florescent tubes that it involved CUTTING a white wire.  GULP !!  But which one ??  There are two white wires.

02

So I pulled off the cover from the one I did last year and followed the two white wires along to determine which one to cut !!  The first fixture took me two days to get up the nerve to cut the wire.  Once I did that (and it worked !!) the remaining two fixtures took about 30 seconds each to do.  Each of these fixtures has two fluorescent tubes – however, the LED tubes are so bright you only need to replace one tube.  And seein’ as they are $40 each I’m sure glad of that.

MY POOR LITTLE BENNIE

He’s an old guy now – will be 13 years old in February.  And his teeth are bad – really bad now.  Saw that he had an infection or some kind of abscess on one of his bottom teeth just recently.  Got him to the Vet who put him on anti-biotics right away and said he needed at least two teeth pulled.  That appointment was today.  Turned out he had to have SIX teeth pulled.  He was in there all day.  I won’t even mention what that bill was !!  LOL

He is sooooo NOT a happy camper tonight.

01

02

03

He hasn’t eaten anything yet (naturally) but must be in pain (obviously) as he is moaning a lot.  Breaking my heart.

GOOD NEWS – BAD NEWS

I have been consumed on the telephone and via e-mail dealing with Newmar trying to badger them into coughing up the cash to fix the RAMP DOOR.  They’ve declined me TWICE now but I’m persistent !  Finally the guy I have been dealing with agreed to pay for 1/2 of the estimate I got.

The other issue that I spoke about in my last post was the Generator.  The Rep from Cummins/ONAN is going to cover the cost to get it fixed – but I have to go to Phoenix as that is the closest Authorized Service Centre for ONAN.

That’s going to involve a six hour round trip and several hundreds of dollars in gas of course.  Appointments are set for next week.

So I’ll be heading to Phoenix early next week and will only be there long enough to get both issues fixed.

Oh there’s more – LOTS more – but enough for one post huh !

TOO MANY PROBLEMS !!

I’ve been hanging out at the VFW with MUDDER & JAMIE for the past week or so.  They have a new rig this year and holy smokes is it ever GORGEOUS inside.  I haven’t taken any pics of the inside (yet) but here are two pics of the outside – 45’ of all living space !

03

04

The VFW is NOT one of my favourite places to stay.  Far too much noise from the 95 – the trains – and yes, of course those awful generators !!  LOL  I’ve become a solar snob.  Who woulda’ thought !! hehehe

But actually I haven’t minded it as bad this time.  Go figure !!  I got myself tucked into a nice little spot…..

02

There haven’t been a whole lot of rigs here until just the last few days.  Now it’s packed here !  Apparently the WIN Group have pulled in to spend Christmas here.

Mudder & Jamie are going to that Fancy Smanchy RV Park this Saturday and will be there until the end of January.  Would love to go there with them but it’s WAY ABOVE any budget I (don’t) have !!

The temps have dropped significantly here making the nights and mornings COLD !!  My poor little Bennie shakes so bad ‘cause he’s cold I have to wrap him up in his blanket and put the Mr. Heater right next to him.

01

Thankfully, As soon as the front curtains are open letting all that beautiful Arizona sun in, it doesn’t take long to warm things up.

He’s an old guy now – will be 13 years old in February and the last year or so his breath is smelling bad due to his bad teeth.  I noticed just recently he seems to have some kind of infection around his bottom teeth and off to the Vet we went.  He will be having surgery on the 28th to remove at least two teeth – over $600 will be that little bill !!

I have had a lot on my mind lately and when that happens I don’t Blog and I suppose just go into my shell.

I’ve been very frustrated with a number (too many !) things that have broken around this rig.  Currently the door closing off the bedroom from the living area is off its track and there’s no way I (or others who have looked at it) can figure out how to get it put back on.

01

The Generator is leaking oil - big time – and has been since last year.  This pic was taken January of last year.

JAN 25-2012-02

Don’t know why I didn’t deal with it then ????  At that time, it would have still been under warranty and the cost covered.  It’s simply a frikkin’ gasket – BUT, the gasket is located such that the whole generator has to come out in order to get to it and repair it.  Since I have Solar I very seldom use my Generator, however, I do want it fixed.  One estimate I have received is $1,300 to repair it  !!  I’m working with ONAN now and they ‘indicated’ they might cover ‘some’ of the cost.  We’ll see.

And of course I’m still trying to get the RAMP DOOR fixed !  I did bring the rig into a repair facility and the cost is going to be almost $1,000.  Naturally it is no longer under warranty and (so far) Newmar has declined to pay for the repair.  I’m still dealing with them though because it is such crappy workmanship and I think they should pay for it !!  That is on hold now also until I can convince them.  The last e-mail I sent was several days ago so because I’ve yet to get another ‘decline’ reply I’m being hopeful that at least they are considering it !!

Oh, I got a laugh out of this sign while I was in the RV repair place…..

05

There is a screen that you can put down in the toy hauler area.

01

Not only is the screen out of it’s channel (don’t know what else to call it) but the whole screen is out of it’s track !!  And again, I cannot see a way to get it back in ???

 03

There’s more stuff gone wrong but these are the things I can think of now !!  I bought a ‘Newmar’ because of its ‘quality’ rating.  Well, my experience is that this is NOT a quality built rig.  On the upside though, I will say that their Customer Service is very good and I am still hopeful that they will take care of the costs regarding the Ramp Door coming apart.

And last but far from least is the fact that my Condo has now been deemed WORTHLESS !!  The IDIOTS that run the place finally hired a Structural Engineering Study on the Building my Unit is in and the report was BAD – REALLY BAD !  The whole structure and foundation is beyond repair – despite cost to fix.  How would you like to find out at this stage in your life that your investment(s) are now deemed WORTHLESS.  Actually in my case it’s even beyond that because I still have a very large mortgage on the Unit.  Stressful, yes very stressful.  I’m doing everything I can to keep it out of my mind because there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it.  The IDIOTS are now trying to sell just the land and best case scenario each Owner ‘might’ receive about $20,000 from that.  Needless to say that amount would not even come in the ball park of covering my mortgage.

So needless to say I have not been in the best frame of mind lately.  I am working very hard on “trusting the process” and believing “everything happens for a reason” and “things will work out” etc. etc. etc.

OH, And I’m not even going to talk about the damage “I” did just recently to the rig…..

01

02

03

Or the ladder hinge “I” broke….

BROKEN LADDER-01

I’ll save those little incidents for another Blog Post !!

HEY, At least I’m not shovelling SNOW !!  LOL

IT WOULDN’T BE ME………….

It wouldn’t be ME if any job I tackle is simple and easy.  I started to replace some of my lights last year with LED and have added a few more this year.

Got the five little ones that go in the Bathroom Vanity Light Fixture yesterday.  Pull old one out – insert new one – right.  NOPE, That wouldn’t be ME if it were that easy !

The fixture had to come off the wall – look at that tangle of wires.  Oh Me Nerves !

01

Not only did the fixture have to come off the wall – each individual glass cover had to come off.  I consoled myself by saying it really needed a good cleaning anyways.

04

One done, five more to go.  Can you see the difference ?

02

Now it wouldn’t be ME if some little nut or bolt or washer dropped never to be found again.  So after one such nut/bolt/washer did drop – and I had to spend 1/2 hour before I finally did find it WHEW -  I got smart and put a towel in the sink.

03

While working on replacing these bulbs the fixture kept banging against the mirrored glass.  It wouldn’t be ME if I didn’t end up breaking that .  So I got ‘smart’ again and ‘tried’ to wrap a towel around the fixture, holding the towel to the fixture with a Velcro strap.  That didn’t work so I added clothes pins to keep the towel attached to the fixture.

05

OK, So that didn’t work either so then I had to hang the towel to the mirrored doors and hold it there with the clothes pins.  After all, It wouldn’t be ME if something actually worked the FIRST time !!

06

Now at this point I’m sure you are saying “Why didn’t she just take the bloody fixture completely off and work on it leisurely at the table.” I refer you back to the first picture – look at all those wires !!  I was NOT going to tackle that !!

WHAT !!  I’ve got THREE done already and I’ve only been at it for the ENTIRE MORNING !!

07

Well lookie here – had a ‘guest’ travelling along with me hiding in one of the fixture lens.  Guess he got bored to death !!  LOL

08

VOILA !  Job done and I now have LED lights in ‘one’ of the bathroom fixtures.

09

WHEW !  Definitely time for a nap now after that big job.

PFFFFT – And those non-RV’er Folks think this RV’ing stuff is all fun and relaxing and travelling.  The WORK never ends.

FIRST CAMP FIRE

Once again I am WEEKS behind on blogging.  After three weeks at the Pond the tanks needed to be dealt with so it was time to move on.

While I was there, friends from B.C. (Leona and MJ) came to the Pond to visit and have dinner.

Leona got her line in the water immediately and inside of 10 minutes caught a decent size trout !

01

Don’t lose it !!

02

03

Stole this pic from their Blog.

DSCF6749_thumb

We had a delicious dinner of chicken (cooked on the Cobb Grill), a garden salad – where I put everything that’s in the fridge in it – and we were SUPPOSED to have baked potatoes – unfortunately, despite being on the grill for 2 hours they were still hard as a rock so not edible !

We then sat back and enjoyed a fire for an hour or so before they had to head back home – Imperial Dam is where they are spending their Winter.

09

The next day Bennie was EXHAUSTED from all that activity so had to rest for the whole day.  Mom, as always, tries to make him as comfortable as possible by putting out his blankie.

08

I have yet to grow tired of the peacefulness of the Pond.

006

Have been back at Quartzsite now for about a week and loving it here also.
