NEW PERLICAN, NEWFOUNDLAND

…..Not to be confused with Old Perlican, Newfoundland…..

I’m back in Town again now.  But after I left Lower Island Cove I spent about a week in New Perlican.  My good friend Byron (aka HarleyB) is originally from here – although he has  been living in Ontario for the past 40 years.  He let me know he was coming ‘home’ for a visit so I simply moved my ‘home’ to this gorgeous little community.

Got myself tucked away in this small Cove.

01

I really enjoyed it there mostly because it was so peaceful and quiet – yet other people were close by enough that I sure felt safe.

Ocean front property at its BEST !!

A little video of my set-up there.

The weekend was “New Perlican Days” where they had many events planned.

09

Even SANTA came to visit….

I’ve been riding with the CMC (Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers) these last few years and Byron is a Member of the Toronto Chapter.  Our Members from St. John’s rode out to New Perlican (about an 1 1/2 hours ride) to meet him.  Considering it wasn’t a great day we still had quite a few riders come out.  It was warm, but very cloudy and some light rain.

LOWER ISLAND COVE, NEWFOUNDLAND

……Not to be confused with Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland…….

I needed to get out of Town again and I was undecided where I would go this time.  Then my Friend Peter called to tell me he was going to his Summer house in Lower Island Cove for the weekend and that just made up my mind for me.

I got out there a few days before Peter arrived and stayed an extra day after he left.  Had a gorgeous weekend hanging out with him.  We spent all of our time at ‘my house’ – he was really enjoying the whole sitting out on the ramp thing.

Relaxing on ‘my patio’ enjoying a million dollar view ……

01

And I get to enjoy all of this for the HUGE price of ZERO !

02

Even had my grill going – see it on the ramp door ?

03

This wharf got destroyed not that long ago by Hurricane Igor.

Even sitting inside I get an amazing view out my side door.

13

Played with the setting on my camera – didn’t know it had a timer thingie…

07

One night there was this brilliant moon shining over the Ocean.  My poor little camera could not capture its magnificence.

12

So I played with some settings again….I liked the way this one came out !

11

And last but by no means least……my baby !

HEART’S DELIGHT

A Cousin of mine (who lives just across the road from my Mom’s house) had just bought a Summer home out around ‘da Bay so I wanted to see it.  The Community is called Heart’s Delight – with it’s neighbouring Communities called Heart’s Desire and Heart’s Content.  I kid you not !!  Newfoundland is quite unique with coming up with names for the various Communities.

What a gorgeous little house they now have to retreat to.  And of course the small back deck faces directly towards the Ocean.  They love it and so do I.

01

While there Bennie and I took a little run on the bike to check out the scenery.

02

03

Right across the road from my Cousin’s Summer place is this house that I just fell in love with.

08

It is also a Summer place for the Owners who clearly have a flair for colour co-coordinating.  They have set up several different seating areas around the house – each with it’s own beautiful colour scheme.

06

Yes, Even their shed !

05

Unfortunately the day I chose to take these pics it was raining so they were taken from inside my rig.

04

And then there was the time I filled Bennie’s treat container and put the box they came in in Mom’s garage for recycling.  I look out into the garage and this is what I see……..

BY’S OH BY’S OH BY’S

You fall into that old black hole – you don’t feel like blogging – and next thing you know it’s been over two months !!  Me Nerves !

It’s been a challenging time no doubt and I want to thank everyone for their comments on my Blog and your e-mails.

Things continue to be up and down here but I have been riding my bike and getting out of town on a couple of occasions.  That helps.

And thankfully we are actually having a Summer here – the weather has been great !

I’ve had several, very large, unexpected expenses hit me.  The most recent is a $3,000 Special Assessment the Condo Board IDIOTS have placed on each Owner in order to do some very long overdue repairs to the Buildings.  I had hoped to have this Summer to re-coup what it cost me to drive back here from Arizona and start putting aside some money for the trip back to Arizona in the Fall.  That’s not looking likely right now.

I’m now so far behind with the blogging I don’t know where to start.  Start from today and work backwards ?  Start from where I left off and try to catch up ?

I’ll start by showing you the set-up I have when I’m parked in my Mother’s driveway….

And a few ‘feeds’ I’ve had……….

After a few weeks in the driveway it’s time for me to get away for awhile.  I spent a few days in the beautiful little community of Cupids.  Waterfront property isn’t hard to come by when you live on an Island.  And there’s lots of boondocking spots once you head “out around ‘da Bay”.  That is considered (by us Townies) anywhere outside of the City of St. John’s.

01

While in Cupids I parked right on the Wharf.

10

And here are some pics of my view…

There was even a little Parade while I was there as it was Canada Day…….

16

I’m out around ‘da Bay again right now where the Internet access is painfully slow.  Actually where I’m parked it’s non-existent.  So I’ll have to take a little scoot somewhere to try and get this Blog published.

Hopefully it won’t be another two months before I Blog again.
